NOTICE OF RACE

1. ORGANIZATION

1.1 The race is organized by Blackboro for,  and with help of  the French-speaking Sailaway Community* ( Sailaway Communauté Francophone)
1.2 The race will use the "Sailaway The Sailing Simulation" software by Orb Creation studios.
1.3 All communications will go through the community's Discord at :https://discord.gg/MQ7bcGB
1.4 The Discord room #course will be used to validate checkpoints.
1.5 The Discord room #general will be used for all other talks in or out of the race.

2. RACE REGULATIONS

2.1 Solo race ( Possibility to make a duo race)

2.2 The race is qualifying for the Mini Transat  only if raced solo.

2.3 You will need to validate ( or have another skipper validate for you ) each check zone and of course the finish line. This is to control you passed all the marks according to the instructions and so we can make a partial ranking at each mark.

2.4 Failure to validate a check zone will lead to a DSQ penalty.

2.5 Thanks in advance for not sending all validations at once after the race, but at each check zone.

2.6 Mandatory check zones will be validated through two possibilities :

2.6.1 You are online at the time you go through the check zone

* You make a screenshot with the map page on screen and paste it in the #course room in Discord

* You make a screenshot with the GPS page on screen and paste it in the #course room in Discord

* The start is validated automatically as a group

* You write as a commentary to the screenshots the skippers name and the name/number of the boat. Same applies if you also validate another nearby boat.

*It is possible to have your validation done by another nearby boat. Better ask him before !


2.6.2 You are offline at the time you go through the check zone :

* Put a waypoint inside the green check zone in order to receive an e-mail from Sailaway.
( Think about possible drifting and don't put the waypoint directly on the mark if there is one.)

* Send a copy of this e-mail to the Race Committee at SCF-PCC[arobase]gmx.com with following information : name of waypoint/check zone , boat number/name, skipper's name. Don't send any attachment.

2.7 Rules of conduct at sea

Sailaway today doesn't handle collisions with boats, but handles now wind shadows.  You will be asked to avoid collisions with other boats and to follow the ISAF rules for navigation.

The rules to be followed at start and during the race  are specially n° 1 to 6 of this tutorial :

These rules shall not apply between the times of local sunset and sunrise, and shall be replaced with the IRPCAS (International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea).

3. MODIFICATIONS TO THE RRS (Racing Rules of Sailing)

4. ADMISSION AND REGISTRATION

4.1 This race is opened to Mini Transat class sailboats.

4.2 It is open to anyone owning Sailaway, registered on our Discord channel.

4.3 End of registrations on Friday August 4th at 23:59 UTC

4.3.1 Leg 2 End of registrations on Friday August 11th at 23:59 UTC

4.4 We will accept a maximum of 20 boats for the race. Beyond this number all following skippers will be on a waiting list until 15 mns before the race start. The list will be established following date and time of registration.

5. SCHEDULE

5.1 The race will be done in two stages

5.2 Stage one :  Les Sables d'Olonne (France) - Start on Saturday August 5th 2017 at 13:00 UTC

5.3 Any skipper which would not have crossed the finish line in Aviles by Friday August 11th at 23:59 UTC will be DNF. They will then teleport to the second stage starting line in Aviles for the second stage

5.4 Stage two :  Aviles ( Spain ) - Start on Saturday August 12th 13:00 UTC

** Individual recall for early start : the recalled boat (or boats) will have to turn around and go through the start line again after going around one of its ends.

7. RACE COURSE

7.2 Stage two : Start in Aviles, finish line in Les Sables d'Olonne

8. RANKING

We will follow up hereunder the ranking at each mandatory waypoint, according to validations received.
